Pro-Jonathan Group Blasts Bakare, El’Rufai

A support group for President Goodluck Jonathan, Transformation Agenda Solidarity Forum, has lambasted the virulent critics of the federal government, describing them as hypocrites who were all out to distract the president from the serious business of governance.

The pro-Jonathan group alluded to the recent utterances of Pastor Tunde Bakare, those of Mallam Nasir El-Rufai and a former member of the House of Representatives, Honourable Dino Melaye, which they said were unnecessarily acerbic and distractive to the zeal by president Jonathan to govern well.

Addressing the media in Abuja at the weekend, The National Co-ordination of the group, Aliyu Ibrahim, and National Secretary, Chidi Emeje, urged the trio to watch their utterances more so as individuals, who they said, have the problem of integrity.

Emeje who read the text said, “Our clear message to these disgruntled politicians is that they should know when to draw the line; they should know when national security is at stake and leave President Jonathan alone to do his work.

“While we not joining issues with these individuals who by the way, think that by throwing unrestrained barb at Mr. President, they can score cheap political points or creep back into public consciousness, we believe that it is incumbent on us, given the mood of the times, to put the angst of the devil’s advocates in context and to also alert Nigerians on the implication of their evil motives. We shall take them one after the other.”

The group described Bakare as a “power-hungry, attention-seeking man of God who has turned his pulpit to an unedifying platform for stirring up hate instead of love,” adding, “We had thought that by this time, he will sit down to take stock of his political misadventure and work hard to strengthen his path, rather he is up and about pontificating over the Presidency of a man destined by God.”

The pro-Jonathan group equally took El Rufai to the cleaners, stating, “Having fallen from grace to grass and without political base, he is today groping for attention and stirring up controversies here and there. We clearly understand his frustrations and can excuse some of his idiosyncrasies and delusion.”
