Following their alleged disobedience to court orders and judgment, the Ogun State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has commenced contempt of court proceedings against some national officers and members of the party.

In a motion on notice filed at the Federal High Court, Lagos, on behalf of the state executive committee by the chairman and secretary of the Ogun State PDP, Chief Adebayo Dayo and Alhaji Semiu Shodipo respectively against the PDP, its national chairman, Alhaji Bamanga Tukur; the national secretary, Prince Olagunsoye Oyinlola and the national auditor, Chief Bode Mustapha, the party said it was compelled to initiate the action following the “willful disobedience, violation and defiance of the orders” contained in the judgment of the court delivered on May 2nd, 2012.

Specifically, those the party is seeking to commit to prison are the deputy national chairman, Dr Sam Jaja; Oyinlola; the national publicity secretary, Chief Olisa Metuh and Mustapha.

Others include Senator Lekan Mustapha, Honourable Dave Salako, chairman and members of the purported Ogun PDP caretaker committee, Mr Ireti Oniyide; Tunde Oladunjoye and  Fasiu Bakenne.

Among other prayers, the party pleaded with the court “to nullify all and any congresses or purported congresses organised and conducted by the first (PDP) alleged contemnors and/or its organs, officers or members (including the second to 11th alleged contemnors) in Ogun State in July and August 2012 in violation and defiance of the orders contained in the judgment of this Honourable Court delivered on the 2nd of May, 2012 in this suit (FHC/L/CS/347/2012).”

Justice Mohammed Idris adjourned till August 8th for hearing of the motion on notice.
