Oshiomhole, Odubu receive INEC certificate of returns
WINNER of last Saturday governorship election in Edo State and incumbent governor, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, was, on Tuesday, presented with a certificate of return by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
Besides, the deputy governor-elect, who is also the incumbent, Dr Pius Odubu, also received his certificate of return from the INEC
The certificates were presented at the Edo State headquarters of the commission in Benin City, the state capital, by a National Commissioner of INEC, Colonel Mohammed Kurmi Hammanga (retd).
Leaders of the Action Congress of Nigeria (ACN) in the state, including heads of security agencies in the state, witnessed the presentation.
The state Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC), Kassim Gaidam, said the event was in compliance with section 75(1) of the Electoral Act, which stipulated that winners of election were to be presented certificate of returns within seven days of their declaration.
Gaidam said from available records, last Saturday gubernatorial election had the largest turnout of voters since 2007 in the state.
