Nasarawa to parley Abuja-based marketing company on Lafia market
Nasarawa State government is to collaborate with the Abuja Market Management Limited to effectively and efficiently put to use the Lafia Modern Market.
The state governor, Tanko Al-Makura, stated this in Lafia, when he played host to the leadership of the team who were on a courtesy visit to the governor at the Government House in Lafia.
He said the speedy completion of the market was to ensure utilisation of its values and also to give prospective business people the opportunity to contribute to the economic advancement of the state.
Governor Al-Makura said the handing over of the market to the Abuja market management team was to ensure proper management of the sector which would, in turn, improve the economic base of the state.
He enjoined the market association in the state to cooperate with the management team for the effective running of the market.
Al-Makura said he would consider handing over the Karu International Market to the Abuja Market Management Limited, if it put in an impressive performance in running the affairs of Lafia Modern Market.
Earlier, the Managing Director, Abuja Market Management Limited, Abubakar Faruk, said the essence of their visit was to seek best ways of handling the market for effective utilisation.
While assuring the state government of the management’s commitment towards effective running of the market, he also promised to put to use the management’s wealth of experience to improve the economy of the state.
Chairman, Nasarawa State Market Traders Association, Alhaji Wakeel Abubakar, assured the government and Abuja Market Management Limited of their unalloyed support and cooperation in carrying out business activities in the market.
